Going It Alone
A collection of original monologues celebrating the unique challenge of writing for a solo performer and performing solo! This showcase originated as FLYING SOLO with producers Susan Frank and Rob Zonefrelli, directed by Betsy Kruse Craig. The Invisible Theatre has been a longtime proponent of original work. Managing Artistic Director, Betsy Kruse Craig brought the showcase back to IT in May of 2024. This an annual event, showcasing local and international playwrights. GRETCHEN WIRGES, IT Artistic Associate, curated the monologues, selected actors and has worked with fellow directors, Emily Fuchs and Alex Totillo.
CAST BIOS:
Erin Amsler (she/her) is an actor, musician, and educator originally from Erie, Pennsylvania. Some of Erin’s favorite roles/shows as an actor and sound designer include BIRDS OF NORTH AMERICA, TICK, TICK, BOOM!, STRING OF PEARLS, AMADEUS, POTUS: OR, BEHIND EVERY GREAT DUMBASS ARE SEVEN WOMEN TRYING TO KEEP HIM ALIVE, and WHERE WORDS ONCE WERE. Thank you for supporting live theater made by real people!
Cristian (CJ) Barbosa is a Tucson-based actor and musician with a BFA in Acting from the University of Arizona. His stage credits include Orhan in WHERE WORDS ONCE WERE, Lysander in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Solyony in THREE SISTERS, and roles in THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO, ON THE VERGE, and THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA at the University of Arizona. He has trained under Hank Stratton, Danny Gurwin, and Brent Gibbs, with additional masterclasses through LAMDA. Cristian is a certified Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors and brings skills in stage combat.
Dante Crossroad (he/they/she) has been acting professionally in Tucson since their debut in PLAZA SUITE with Oro Valley Theatre Company in the spring of 2023. They have been in several productions over the last three years, including PUFFS at Live Theatre Workshop, HOPSCOTCH TO INFINITY with Invisible Theatre, and they made their Saguaro City Music Theatre debut earlier this year in ANNIE. They can usually be found performing/directing at Valley of the Moon. Dante is thrilled to be on the IT stage once again!
Emily Fuchs is delighted to be participating in GOING IT ALONE! This is Emily’s fourth time acting in the series, and her first time directing! Recent acting credits include Live Theatre Workshop’s SLEEPING BEAUTY (Sara the Surly) and VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE (Nina), The Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre’s MACBETH, and Invisible Theatre’s HOPSCOTCH TO INFINITY (Dorla). Recently, Emily was Assistant Director for IT’s 2025 reading of MUD AND FIRE: THE POTTERY PLAY. Emily has also served as production dramaturg for Arizona Repertory Theatre’s THE WOLVES and TOP GIRLS, as well as GOOD PEOPLE with Winding Road Theatre Ensemble. Emily holds an Associate of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance (Pima Community College), a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies and Master of Arts in Studies of Global Media (The University of Arizona). She completed training in Shakespeare and Classical Drama with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). You can follow her exploits on Instagram at @emilylfuchs.
Lori Hunt is delighted to return to IT for her second year in Going IT Alone. She has appeared on the IT stage in numerous shows since 2009, where she played 9 characters in LEAVING IOWA; most recently she played 8 characters in MORIARTY, including puppeteering Toby the bloodhound. Some of her other favorite IT shows include A KID LIKE JAKE, FOX ON THE FAIRWAY, and MOTHERHOOD OUT LOUD. In 2013 she won a MAC award for playing Mindy in Arizona Onstage’s 5 WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS. Lori also performed sketch comedy and sang with a rock band for 9 years in Ohio, where she learned that middle management is not for her. Lori holds a BFA from the University of Arizona Theatre Arts program and has studied with The Groundlings and UCB Theatre in Los Angeles. Offstage, Lori loves to read, cook, and snuggle with her kitties.
Steve Mckee is excited to be returning to the IT stage, where he was seen earlier this year in INCIDENT AT OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP and as a part of GOING IT ALONE in 2024. He has understudied with Arizona Theatre Company, and performed with Arizona Onstage Productions, Arts Express Theatre, Live Theatre Workshop, The Rogue Theatre and Scoundrel and Scamp Theatre. Steve also performs at the Gaslight Theatre during their Christmas shows.Favorite roles include Roger Debris in THE PRODUCERS, Alan in GOD OF CARNAGE, Steve in BECKY’S NEW CAR, and multiple characters in INCIDENT AT OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP. Robin Mirlocca has always lived life on the stage. From starting dance classes at 2 years of age and working her way up to solos by 11, Robin started teaching dance classes by age 16. Due to health concerns, she turned her eye towards acting and started taking classes at the University of Arizona. She later transitioned to taking classes at the Studio for Actors, working primarily on scene work and joining their improv troupe, under the teachings of SNL alumni Anna Risely. In the past 12 years, she has worked for such companies as Beowulf Alley, Winding Road, Something Something, The Community Players, and The Road Runner Theatre Company to name a few. Her favorite roles include Charlotte from BEYOND THERAPY, Marela from ANNA IN THE TROPICS, and Lucy from WHAT EVERY GIRL SHOULD KNOW. She was named Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Lina from CRY IT OUT in the first Carmen awards and is the owner of Streetlamp Productions artistic company. Robin was seen in last season’s THE BOOKSTORE.
Josh Parra (he/him) is a native Tucsonan and studied theatre at Pima Community College. Past roles include Judge Brack in HEDDA GABLER (Beowulf Alley Theatre Company), Happy in DEATH OF A SALESMAN (Winding Road Theater Ensemble), John in THE REALISTIC JONESES (Live Theatre Workshop), Foster in PEOPLE, PLACES AND THINGS (TAZ Theatre), Mr. Smith in JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN (Arizona Repertory Theatre) and Sherlock Holmes in MORIARTY (Invisible Theatre). He is happy to be invited back to Invisible Theatre, and thanks his son Idris for his love and support.
Carley Elizabeth Preston is a member of the Acting Ensemble at The Rogue Theatre. Ms. Preston was last seen in THE TEMPEST on The Rogue stage. She received her BFA from the University of Arizona, where she was a member of the Arizona Repertory Theatre. Some of her stage credits include TIME STANDS STILL (Mac Award for Best Actress), MOLLY SWEENEY, ENCHANTED APRIL, and THE SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF INTELLIGENT LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE (Live Theatre Workshop), as well as ROMEO AND JULIET, MARJORIE PRIME, THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH, LOVE’S LABOR’S LOST, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, BABETTE’S FEAST, SWEAT, PASSAGE, TWELFTH NIGHT, AS YOU LIKE IT, THE WEIR, A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE, BLITHE SPIRIT, and THE CRUCIBLE (Rogue Theatre).
Eric Rau is a native Tucsonan and graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Romance Languages. He worked as a corporate trainer for an international telecommunications company before attending law school and, after retiring early from a 25-year career in law, he is thrilled to be able to devote himself to theatre and improv performance and put his dusty language skills to use while traveling the world. Some favorite roles have included Howie in RABBIT HOLE, Horace in THE LITTLE FOXES, Eugene O’Neill in N, and Mr. Oldfield in THE MINUTES. Special thanks to my darling husband, Cameron Rau, for all his love and encouragement.
Tanisha Ray (she/her) is excited to work on this relevant and powerful project with Invisible Theatre! A published author and licensed counselor, Tanisha has had the privilege of working on various productions within Arizona’s vibrant artistic community such as FAIRVIEW, SILENT SKY, THE GARBOLOGISTS, MACBETH, DOUBT, POTUS, Arizona Theater Company’s INTIMATE APPAREL (as an understudy), and the award-winning short film, YELLOW ROSE. Tanisha is truly honored to be a part of this thought-provoking experience that encourages connection through individual vulnerability.
Isabella Santoni (she/her) is a recent graduate of the University of Arizona, where she received her BFA in Acting and BA in Creative Writing with a minor in Italian. Her previous credits include INCIDENT AT OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP (Linda) at the Invisible Theatre and CLAUDIA’S FAMILY (Claudia u/s) at Borderlands Theater, as well as JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN (Beth), UNCLE VANYA (Sónya), MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (Dogberry), and THE LARAMIE PROJECT (Romaine Patterson) at Arizona Repertory Theatre. She’s a recent fan of quilting, horny toads, and the reverse granny bowl.
Gretchen Wirges is always thrilled to be back on the IT stage. Gretchen is fortunate to have appeared on most of the stages in the Tucson Theatre community. Some of her favorite roles include Margery in HAND TO GOD (Arizona Onstage Productions), Rumpet/Scrooge in SONORAN DESERT CAROL (Scoundrel & Scamp), Annabella in ADA AND THE ENGINE (Scoundrel and Scamp), Della in THE CAKE (Invisible Theatre) and Josephine in OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP (Invisible Theatre). Gretchen dedicates this show to all of you sitting out there in the dark, supporting this work. She hopes that you find at least one moment in today’s performances where you feel seen—or are able to truly see someone else.
